The Society of Licensed Conveyancers is the professional body that represents the Licensed Conveyancer profession. It exists to serve the interests of its members working constructively with the Council for Licensed Conveyancers (CLC) as well as other stakeholders such as Government Departments, industry representative bodies, consumer organisations and the media; national, local and trade.

SLC Chairman – Val Holmes


Val was appointed as the new Chairman on 3rd October 2018, taking over from Simon Law.  Val has been an active Board member since 2013 and has over 30 years’ experience in conveyancing working for large and small companies.  Val founded Valerie Holmes Property Lawyer in 2007.


The SLC offers its members a wide range of benefits, specifically tailored for the conveyancing profession.

Member benefits include free CPD events, Professional Indemnity Insurance scheme at competitive rates, affiliation schemes with partner suppliers and professionals, information and advice, improved public relations through promotions and the media, personal representation and parliamentary lobbying, referral of new clients, discounted stationery and more.

The Society also produces a regular in-house journal: The Licensed Conveyancer (TLC). This includes latest news for the profession, regular case history updates and job advertisements. The Society also produces regular bulletins between editions of TLC, on topical issues and special offers for members.
